A former California Army National Guard, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a number of girls.
Kristopher Bland, 32, of Chino, California, worked for a non-profit football and cheerleaders organization, which is geared for children ages 5 to 15, when he was accused of sexually assaulting girls on his cheerleading team.
He is accused of molesting a 14-year-old and several other victims, police officials said Monday.
Department officials said that investigators became aware of the allegations on Saturday, after being alerted by a mother who overheard a conversation between her daughter and a friend.
“The girls were discussing acts of the molestation,” the woman said.
“The 14-year-old cooperated with the police investigation and identified the suspect as her cheerleading coach,” department officials said in a statement.
The investigation allegedly led police to other victims.
Bland was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, where he is being held in lieu of $350,000 bail.
