(Scroll down for video) A woman arrived to New York’s JFK International Airport from Brazil, and asked a cab driver to take her to Massachusetts.
The driver told her the price for the 4 hour drive and the woman agreed.
When they arrived to her home, Denise Rebelato, 31, of Framingham, told the driver that she did not have the $980 that she owed him.
The driver, who had just spent 4 hours driving one way and needed to drive 4 more hours to get back home, told the woman to withdraw money from an ATM.
The woman explained that she had no money in her account. She then handed him 2 credit cards, but both were declined.
The woman then claimed that her parents were at a hospital and were unable to help.
The driver then drove the woman to a police station where she was arrested for theft.
A judge scolded the woman for taking a cab rather than a bus, which would have been much cheaper.
Rebelato was given one month to either pay the $980 or face jail time.
