A man was grateful that his Porsche Cayenne locked a thief inside.
A would-be thief had to be rescued by police in Germany, after the car he intended to steal locked him inside.
The 50-year-old man broke into the car in Cologne, on Saturday.
He grabbed some items from inside the car and then attempted to escape. However, the central locking system locked the man inside, with no way to get out.
Passersby called police shortly before 7:00 p.m., to report that a man was trapped inside the Porsche Cayenne.
Emergency services arrived to find the man sitting in the back seat of the car, police said in a statement.
“Witnesses reported that the man has kicked the car door in panic and was trying to get out, but without success,” police said.
The car owner came and opened the car with the remote control as firefighters were about to bust the window open.
The car thief was arrested and is expected to be charged with attempted theft of a vehicle.
