(Scroll down for video) A community was left shaken after a father killed his son with a cricket bat in front of his classmates and their parents.
The 11-year-old of Melbourne, Australia, was killed at the end of a cricket training session.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene, tried to treat his head injuries caused by the cricket bat, but he was declared dead at the scene.
His 54-year-old father was shot by police officers and later died at a hospital.
The boy’s mother, Rosie Batty, who no longer lived with the boy’s father, said that when her son saw his father at the school, he asked permission to go see him.
Rosie Batty agreed with the boy’s request. She never thought that he would hurt his little boy.
Rosie Batty said that her son’s father was homeless and may have suffered from mental illness at the time of the incident.
