A woman is dead, and her brother and husband are in jail for killing her.
Hayat Bibi, 27, was killed after she was caught with a man who is not her husband.
Bibi of Pakistan, was reportedly having an affair with Daraz Khan, 25. When her husband learned of the affair Bibi went into hiding.
However, she came out of hiding when she heard that her husband and brother captured her lover.
The husband approached a local cleric, demanding an approval for the couple to be stoned to death in compliance with Islamic law.
When they received permission, a mob led by her husband and brother stoned both Bibi and her lover to death for adultery in the Loralai district in Balochistan.
The mob began throwing stones and bricks at Khan until he died, while forcing Bibi to watch.
When he was dead, they turned to Bibi, and stoned her until she died.
Stoning is legal in Pakistan, only if it is ordered by a federal or provincial court. However, in this case it was not legal as it was ordered by a religious court. Therefore, police arrested and charged 4 people for their deaths.
Those arrested included Bibi’s husband, her brother and the cleric who allowed it to happen.
