(Scroll down for video) A Pennsylvania family was left feeling shattered after their daughter was killed, and her father was arrested and charged with DUI.

12-year-old Shamera Harris of Pittsburgh, went on her very first date with a teenage boy.

The two went to watch a movie together at the Waterworks Mall, before her parents came to pick them up. When her parents went to drop off the 14-year-old boy, the girl’s mother suggested that she take photos with the boy.

Her father, Richard Benton, 53, was drunk at the time and had a hard time shifting the car to park. The Ford Explorer rolled down the street, dragging Shamera, who was standing behind the vehicle.

The SUV dragged her about 50 feet before it came to a stop by hitting a tree.

Shamera’s mother, who had been in the car, tried to revive her daughter with CPR, but was unsuccessful. The girl was declared dead at the scene.

Benton, 53, was later booked on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence. An investigation has been launched to determine why the SUV rolled down the street.

Benton could face additional charges in the death of his daughter.
