(Scroll down for video) A man set himself on fire because government officials decided to build a wall near his restaurant, a video uploaded to the Internet showed.

The restaurant owner set himself on fire to protest the government’s decision that he claims will hurt his business.

The man believes the noise barrier will block access to potential diners at his restaurant in Monza, Italy. In a desperate attempt to save his business, Carlo De Gaetano poured gasoline on a blanket, set it on fire and stepped into the flames.

Two traffic police officers arrived at the scene within moments and tried to extinguish the flames, but they also caught on fire. The men had been rolling on the floor for a few seconds before several other police officers at the scene extinguished the massive flames.

The three injured were taken to a hospital, but their injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
