Three Arab stone throwers were arrested after allegedly wounding several police officers, Israel Police said.
Jerusalem Police said that three demonstrators threw stones at police during Friday clashes in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Ras al-Amud.
The fresh clashes broke out just three days after police clashed with stone-throwing Arabs outside the al-Aqsa mosque. The suspects will be brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court for bail hearings, while charges are still pending.
Last September, several Israeli police vehicles came under a stoning attack by a group of Palestinians, according to video uploaded to the Internet.
Israel Border Patrol said that their vehicles came under attack on Saturday, after the police were called to the scene of a violent family fight that broke out in the village of Anata, near Jerusalem. A group of Palestinians began throwing stones, rocks and buckets of paint were thrown on police vehicles.
The Israeli police were called to the Arab city by local residents in order to help calm in a violent fight that broke out due to a conflict between two families. Before the police arrived to the scene, two people died and two more were wounded in the fighting.
The Border Patrol and police entered the city in order to prevent further escalation of the situation and put an end to the violence. However, when they finished their work, the forces were attacked by several Palestinians, who were present at the scene.
In order to prevent further escalation, police decided to just leave the area. The incident ended without anyone being hurt, but some of the police vehicles were damaged.
