(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested, charged and convicted of murder after killing four prostitutes he met through a classified advertisements website, prosecutors in Michigan said.
A Macomb County jury convicted James C. Brown of first-degree murder for the murder of four women in Detroit, he met through Backpage.com.
Brown, 25, was charged with 10 counts including first-degree murder, disinterment and mutilation of a dead body and arson. At the conclusion of the trial, the jury deliberated about two hours on Thursday and less than two hours on Friday.
Brown was accused in the death of Vernithea McCrary, Natasha Curtis, Demesha Hunt and Renisha Landers. Brown is accused of killing the women at his mother’s home and dumping their bodies in his old neighborhood in Detroit.
Medical examiners ruled that the woman died of strangulation. Their manner of deaths were ruled a homicide. Prosecutors said that blood records, DNA evidence and cellphone records helped prove that Brown killed the women.
Brown told police he smoked marijuana with the women, had sex with some of them and fainted. When he awoke, they were dead.
Brown admitted to putting their bodies in cars, driving them to Detroit, pouring gasoline on two of the bodies in the trunk and set them on fire.
