A young woman is dead after being run over by a New York City bus, rescue workers in Brooklyn, New York said.
Brooklyn Police said that an MTA bus struck and killed the 21-year-old woman early on Saturday.
Marisol Martinez was walking on Union Avenue around 1:30 a.m., when the bus made a turn and hit her. Martinez was pronounced dead after being taken to Woodhull hospital.
Martinez’s family said she was a full time student at Hunter College, and she was on her way back home after getting pizza with friends when she was struck by the bus. Police said that no charges have been filed against the bus driver, but the accident is still being investigated.
Last November, a man was killed after a hit and run incident in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York, according to police reports.
Brooklyn Police are searching for the car that ran over a pedestrian, who was riding his bicycle, in a fatal hit and run that occurred early on Monday.
Rescue workers were called to Meeker Avenue and Frost Street in Williamsburg around 4:00 a.m., where they found the man lying unconscious on the road with severe injuries, according to the New York Fire Department.
The man, 32, whose name was not released, was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said. Police confirmed that the car that hit the man fled the scene after the accident.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
