A Borough Park area mother was arrested and charged with assault after beating her child to near death with a bamboo stick, police in New York said.

Brooklyn Police said that they arrested the mother after the 2-year-old child was hospitalized.

According to the initial police investigation, 27-year-old Yayun Weng brought her son to the Maimonides Medical Center emergency room on Thursday night. Doctors called police after they saw that the child had bruises on over 90 percent of his body.

Police said that Weng used a bamboo stick to beat the child, who was in critical condition. Weng is charged with two counts of assault causing injury to a person under 11 years old, endangering the welfare of a child, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.

Earlier this month, a mother was arrested and charged with assault on a child after allegedly beating her young daughter, Israel Police said.

The Nazareth District Attorney’s Office filed an indictment with the Nazareth District Court on Sunday, against a 35-year-old woman after being accused of abusing her 10-year-old daughter. She was charged with abusing a helpless person, assaulting a minor and neglect of a child.

According to the indictment, the mother regularly beat her child for no reason since she was born.

The mother is also accused of cursing her daughter. “Why were you born?” She used to ask her daughter. The mother blamed the child for causing fights between herself and her husband.

In one severe abuse incident, the mother stuffed a torn sock into the mouth of her child. In another case, after the girl forgot her notebook in school, her mother squeezed her neck, dragged her around the house, pulled her hair and kicked her in her stomach.

The mother did not allow her child to eat anything after 5:30 p.m., because doing so will cause her to get fat. The mother threatened the child that if she tells anyone about the abuse she will kill her. She ordered her daughter to blame a cat for her injuries.
