Jews across Ukraine, are afraid for their lives after Russian troops invaded their country and anti-Semitic incidents escalated.

The Jewish community in Crimea, woke up on Saturday to find a swastika and the words “Death to the Jews” sprayed on the Ner Tamid Reform synagogue in Simferopol.

A Jewish community leader said that the reasons behind the increase in anti-Semitic incidents are a thirty percent rise in prices and pensions are not being paid. As usual, Jews are blamed for these disasters.

A Jewish community spokesperson said that this was the first anti-Semitic attack on a synagogue in the region in 20 years. Just last week, police said that a synagogue has been firebombed following the mass protests that toppled President Viktor Yanukovych.

The Giymat Rosa Synagogue in Zaporizhia, which is located 250 miles southeast of Kiev, was attacked by unknown vandals. No one was injured in the attack.

Officials of the synagogue said that the structure suffered damage as a result of the attack. Security forces found pieces of a glass bottle, probably used as a Molotov cocktail, at the scene.

Police said that they were searching for the suspects, but so far, no arrests have been made.
