(Scroll down for video) A childhood pastime for some, became a nearly violent robbery for one ice cream man.

A boy, described as being between the ages of 10 and 12, held up a local San Diego, California ice cream truck last Thursday, demanding cash.

The boy approached the truck on foot and presented a handgun. Once given the money, he made his escape on a skateboard.

The truck driver told police officers that he was robbed at the corner of Black Oak Road and Meadowbrook Drive at approximately 7:00 p.m. The crime is currently under investigation.

Police officers are assuming that the boy involved was aware of the crime’s severity and are taking the matter very seriously. Other children were in the surrounding area at the time.

However, no one else was involved in the act. The ice cream truck driver was not injured.
