A Hamas military commander is dead after a bomb accidentally exploded in his hand, a Gaza Strip government spokesperson said in a statement.
The military wing of Hamas, said that the field commander was killed in the Hashashin neighborhood in Rafah.
Nine people were also injured as a result of the explosion.
The commander was identified as 30-year-old Ibrahim Nagib al-Ghoul.
A spokesperson for the Gaza Strip Ministry of Health said that most of the nine people injured in the blast suffered serious injuries. Five victims were taken to Abu Yousef al-Najjar hospital, while the other four were transferred to the European Gaza Hospital.
