(Scroll down for video) A man failed miserably in his quest to save $20 – rescue workers in Oklahoma said.

Lawton rescue workers said that the incident began when a $20 note dropped into a sewer.

The man, desperate to get his money back, went into the sewer system, but he became trapped. He remained there for two days before being rescued.

A group of high school students, who were walking home from school near the sewer, heard a strange voice coming from the manhole and quickly realized it was a man asking for help. They called police. When police arrived at the scene, they clearly heard a man calling for help.

Police removed the manhole and saw the man, who was waiting to be rescued. Officers said that it was the first time they have ever rescued a man from a sewer.

Despite all his efforts, the man never found his $20 note.
