(Scroll down for video) A Jordanian judge is dead after being shot by Israeli soldiers at an Israel-Jordan border crossing, officials in Jordan said.
The incident occurred on Monday, after the man tried to snatch the gun of a soldier at the main Israel to Jordan border crossing.
The shooting took place at the Allenby Bridge. Palestinian security officials identified the victim as 38-year-old Raed Zeiter. Officials in Jordan confirmed that the man had Jordanian nationality.
“A Palestinian tried to take the gun of a soldier at the Allenby Bridge. He was shot,” the Israeli military said. The Jordanian Ministry of Justice said that Zeiter was a magistrate’s court judge in Amman.
The suspect’s family members in Amman, expressed shock at his death. Zeiter’s father, a former judge, said that his son was very professional. The family is also surprised that Zeiter went to the West Bank.
