(Scroll down for video) A woman was left traumatized after a snake bit her breast while she was asleep, hospital officials in the United Kingdom said.

The incident happened to Caroline Griffin, 49, of Guardbridge, Fife.

The animal, a California Kingsnake, had escaped from a neighbor’s home six months earlier. Now, the snake has been reunited with its owner, but not before Griffin was left with puncture wounds and bruises on her breast.

Griffin said that when her alarm sounded in the morning, she pulled off her bed sheets and saw the snake on her bed. At first, she thought her kids were playing a joke on her, but when the snake started moving, she panicked.

Griffin immediately contacted animal control, and when she describe the snake she was relieved to hear that it was not poisonous. After telling her story to several neighbors she learned that the snake was her neighbor’s pet.
