A new mother is rejoicing after her baby came back to life, hospital officials in Canada said.

34-year-old Robin Cyr was told that her baby had died shortly after birth at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax.

However, shortly after receiving the devastating news, a hospital worker rushed back to the room to say that the baby began breathing again. The baby girl, who weighed nine pounds 14 ounces, became stuck in the birth canal during delivery.

Once born, doctors waited for 25 minutes to see signs of life. Then, the baby’s body was removed from the room after being declared dead. A surgeon told Cyr that doctors had no explanation for the seemingly impossible recovery.

Now, the baby is breathing on her own in the neonatal intensive care unit, and is as healthy as any other newborn baby. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the apparent resurrection.
