(Scroll down for video) An armed robber was in for a nasty surprise when he decided to hold up a Las Vegas casino, police in Nevada said.

Las Vegas Police said that the suspect tried to steal costumes when the male strippers detained him until police arrived.

The would-be robber was armed with a .44 Magnum pistol and pointed the gun at the head of a dancer. A booking photo released by the police showed how the man suffered a black eye and bruises on his face.

After his arrest, the man was transferred to a local hospital for treatment. Witnesses told police that they saw the man walking down the Excalibur Hotel and Casino on Tuesday, before the show wearing a Swat team hat, fireman’s shirt and police style boots. When the suspect pulled out his gun, a cast member managed to push his hand.

The gun fired and the bullet hit a wall. The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, is now in custody after being charged with felony attempted murder, armed robbery and robbery with a weapon.

He could face decades in prison if convicted.
