(Scroll down for video) Two women were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child after giving vodka to a 1-year-old child, police in Texas said.

Houston Police said that the child’s mother, 17-year-old Shadreon Jefferson, and the aunt of the victim, 24-year- old Shamara Batiste, were accused of giving the 1-year-old girl alcohol.

The father of the child called police when he noticed that the girl’s eyes were rolling into the back of her head, according to court documents. When authorities arrived, the girl was crying and vomiting.

At the hospital, doctors said the child had a blood alcohol content level of 0.268, more than three times the legal limit for adults. The girl suffered from acute alcohol intoxication.

While Jefferson was sleeping, Batiste gave vodka to the child. According to a criminal complaint, Batiste admitted that the baby drank about six shots of vodka before going to bed.

The child was shaking and smelled of alcohol at the hospital. A judge signed an order of protection on behalf of the child, which keeps her away from the two women.

The child is now in the care of her maternal grandmother after spending four days in the hospital. Jefferson was freed on $10,000 bail.
