(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested and charged with assault after pouring alcohol on his girlfriend because she accused him of cheating, police in Connecticut said.
Manchester Police said that the father of four children poured a bottle of liquor on the mother of his children, and then tried to set her on fire before being arrested.
Officers were called to an apartment on Terrace Drive around 3:30 a.m., after a neighbor reported a disturbance. When police arrived, they found the woman inside the apartment soaked in alcohol.
Police said Ramon Gomez, 32, poured the liquor on the victim and then tried repeatedly to light her with a disposable lighter during a physical altercation. The victim was able to escape along with her four young children, who were also in the apartment.
Police said that two of the children were also covered in alcohol. The woman told police that the incident occurred after she confronted him about allegations of cheating.
Gomez is charged with risk of injury, reckless endangerment and attempted criminal assault. The suspect denied everything.
Gomez told police he poured the liquor on the floor because his girlfriend drinks too much. Police said they found no evidence that she was intoxicated.
Gomez was booked into jail and is being held on $100,000 bond.
