A couple was arrested and charged with assault after they assaulted each other, police in South Carolina said.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said that the boyfriend and girlfriend are facing charges after an altercation that involved an anger management book and a box cutter.
Police officers said that they were called to the Veridian Apartments by 22-year-old Sheelah Thompson. She told officers that her boyfriend, 23-year-old Tyler Ford, got into a fight with her while they were watching a movie, and that he had choked and threatened to kill her.
Thompson said that Ford had hit her little daughter in the legs twice because she was crying. She also said that when she tried to get the child away from Ford, he grabbed the anger management book and hit her.
She said that when Ford continued his assault, she took a sharp object and cut his arm. Police officers also spoke with Ford, who had a deep cut on his right forearm.
Ford confirmed that he and Thompson had been arguing while watching a movie. He said that when she asked Thompson why she tried to make him mad, while he is trying to complete an anger management class, she would not answer. That is when he hit her.
After further investigation, Thompson was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, and Ford was charged with criminal domestic violence.
