Two teen girls are dead after being accused in separate incidents of having immoral relationships.

Al Jazeera reported that two teenage Palestinian girls were killed in separate incidents last month, in apparent “honor killing” incidents.

The girls were killed in revenge attacks carried out by family members, who claimed that their sexual escapades caused dishonor to the entire family. The two reported killings triggered massive protests in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Over 100 people assembled outside the attorney general’s office in Gaza, demanding that violence against Palestinian women come to an end. Five women were murdered in honor killings in the Palestinian territories in 2011. That number increased to 13 in 2012 and doubled to 26 last year.

Sadly, a day after the protests, another woman, Samah Bader, 36, was stabbed to death by her husband in her apartment in Ramallah, after being accused of sexual misconduct. She became the eighth woman murdered in the Palestinian territories since the beginning of the year, raising concerns that the deadly trend will continue to grow.
