(Scroll down for video) A dog is lucky to be alive after being rescued from an ice cold lake by several good Samaritans, a video uploaded to the Internet showed.

The incident began when the dog became trapped in a canal in Romania.

Several passersby came together to pull the soaked dog from the icy water. The dog was rescued and carried by the men through holding onto the skin of its neck, something the dog mothers do to carry their young.

After they freed the dog, it appears to act as most humans would and thanked the rescuers by showering them with licks. Last year, the world’s first vending machine for dogs has been launched in London, England.

The vending machine, which was first installed in Clapham Common, features a toy canine bone lever that the dog needs to pull, and a toy to shoot a tennis ball. After the ball hits the right spot, mimicking the action of a person inserting a coin for a normal vending machine, animals are rewarded with delicious dog food.

The machine, was built to foster “fun and exercise” between owners and their pets, and it also uses sounds to encourage dogs to retrieve the ball.

The spokesperson for the company that launched the machines said: “Bakers Complete is delighted to have served dogs for over 20 years with delicious food, and now, we designed a puppy vending machine designed with the needs of dogs in mind, rewarding each dog that interacts properly with the machine with a delicious treat.”
