What was supposed to be a happy time for a newlywed couple turned into chaos and legal problems.
The couple took a flight from Atlanta, Georgia, to Costa Rica, for their honeymoon, but they were quickly separated when they began fighting.
Things got out of control when the groom became drunk and the couple started arguing. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing after the newly married couple got into the drunken fight.
The Delta Air Lines plane landed in the Cayman Islands.
Authorities waited for the plane and they arrested the drunk groom.
However, the bride was allowed to remain on board the flight from Atlanta to San Jose, where the couple planned to spend their honeymoon.
The U.S. citizen was escorted from the plane by police in the Cayman Islands, and is being held in prison on charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, Royal Cayman Islands Chief Inspector Raymond Christian said.
The man could face additional charges under the international air law.
