(Scroll down for video) A woman of the United Kingdom, did not use protection during sex as she was past the age of childbirth.
However, she had no idea that condoms are also used to protect people from HIV and other diseases.
Rachel Dilley, 48, split up with her partner of 20 years, with whom she had three children.
One year later, she met a man through the Internet, and they began dating. The relationship turned physical and they had sex without protection.
The man never told Dilley that he had HIV. The relationship was short lived and the two broke up.
Soon after, the woman began feeling sick and went to the doctor. Someone mentioned that Dilley take an HIV test.
She was shocked by the suggestion as she thought that only people in Africa were affected by HIV.
Tests determined that she did indeed have HIV, and now she lives with the consequences of her mistake. At 2:25 in the video below you can hear Dilley saying that she never realized that a white person can get HIV.
