(Scroll down for video) A young father was arrested and his newborn baby was hospitalized after the father bit off his son’s nose.

Joshua Cooper, 18, of California, is accused of biting off his son’s nose out of frustration when the child would not stop crying.

Police in Fairfield, received a call at 8:00 a.m. from a frantic 17-year-old mother, who said that her one-month-old baby was bleeding from the nose. When police arrived they learned that the baby’s father bit him on the nose.

Cooper has been charged with child cruelty and aggravated mayhem, and is being held in the Solano County Jail. The baby was rushed to North Bay Medical Center, where doctors found part of his nose had been completely cut off. The baby also suffered head trauma.

The baby was transferred to Oakland Children’s Hospital, where doctors determined that one-third of the baby’s nose had been bitten off. The baby also suffered a fractured skull and a brain haemorrhage.

It is still unclear how the baby got those injuries. The baby is now in stable condition.
