(Scroll down for video) A woman in Texas, was reportedly infected with HIV by her lesbian lover.
Female-to-female HIV transmission is very rare, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The 46-year-old woman was infected after having sex with her younger partner, who was HIV positive. In the report of the Female-to-female HIV transmission it was noted that the women have participated in various risky behaviors, and the HIV positive woman had stopped taking her medication in 2010.
When the 46-year-old woman has tested positive for HIV she told doctors that she only had sex with her 43-year-old female partner in the six months prior to her diagnosis. The report indicates that the woman’s HIV strain was a 98 percent genetic match with her partners.
The woman admitted that they engaged in rough sex, which sometimes caused one of the woman to bleed. They also engaged in sex while having their menstrual cycle.
