A Michigan nurse was found dead after she took pills meant for hospital patients.
In a sad turn of events, the woman who dedicated her life to help the sick and needy, died on the job.
An autopsy report revealed that the nurse, Carla Delvecchio, 29, died from a drug overdose. The nurse died after taking a mixture of benzodiazepine midazolam and opiate fentanyl, a combination frequently used to sedate patients before surgery.
According to police, the nurse was at the end of her shift at the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, when she picked up two of her patients.
Sadly, she took the pills, overdosed and died. Her body was found at 9:15 a.m. in a bathroom at the Neuroscience Hospital.
Delvecchio was born in Rochester, New York, and she most recently lived in Waterford, Michigan where she worked as a nurse.
The autopsy report ruled the death as accidental.
