A man became angry when another patron burped loudly and failed to excuse himself.
Isaiah Morris, 20, of Tega Cay, South Carolina, was enjoying a meal with friends at a Taco Bell, on Sunday afternoon, when he was attacked.
Morris burped during his meal. A man who was sitting at the next table, heard him burp. The man got up and confronted Morris.
He asked Morris why he did not excuse himself after burping. The angry man then attached Morris. Police responded to the Taco Bell at 4:30 p.m., after Morris reported that he had been assaulted inside the restaurant, according to a police report.
The victim told police that the man walked over to where he was sitting, grabbed a chair and hit him on the left arm. The man then grabbed his throat and tried to head butt him.
A 17-year-old Taco Bell employee approached the suspect and ordered him to leave, according to the police report. The man left Taco Bell, got into a white van and drove off before police arrived.
No one inside the restaurant was able to get the license plate number of the truck. The victim suffered a small cut on his elbow, and had redness around the throat.
The restaurant manager told police he was not sure if the surveillance cameras recorded the incident. Police opened an investigation, but no arrests has been made.
