A New York woman lost her son over her singing.

Verbena Burgess, 50, of the Bronx, said that her son was shot to death after her neighbors became annoyed with her singing.

Burgess was outside of her Morris Avenue apartment building when she sang loudly. Her neighbors did not like her singing and asked her to keep it down.

The group of men from the opposite side of the street approached the woman. They swore at her, insulted her and threw objects at her.

Burgess then told the men that she was either going to call the police or she can call her sons if they do not leave her alone. The group encouraged the 50 year old to bring her sons out.

When the woman felt threatened she called her sons, and a fight broke out. The groups got into it and then they all left. However, the men returned later and forced themselves into the home of Burgess.

The men began fighting with Burgess’ sons. A gun was brought into the fight and 24-year-old Tony Burgess, was shot in the head.

Burgess was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The mother is devastated over the senseless killing, and that her beloved son lost his life defending her singing. May he rest in peace.
