(Scroll down for video) A senior politician in France, has said that public schools will stop offering non-pork alternatives to Jewish children at public schools.

Far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen said on Friday, that she would prevent schools from offering alternatives to pork at least in the 11 municipalities where her party won in local elections.

She claimed that offering non-pork alternatives were contrary to the secular values of France. The Republic of France has a strict secular tradition required by law, but the faith-related demands have increased in recent years, especially from the five million Muslims in the country.

“We will not accept any religious demands on school menus,” Le Pen said. “There is no reason for religion to enter the public sphere, that is the law,” she added.
Pork is forbidden by Jewish and Muslim dietary laws.

Several mayors have complained that there are too many halal stores in their cities. The National Front party gained control of 11 municipalities and one district in the port city of Marseille, in elections on Sunday.

Le Pen said that the victory is a sign that the party had finally established itself as a political force.
