A worker was arrested and charged with theft after he sold his employer’s freezer because he was not paid on time, prosecutors in Nigeria said.
22-year-old Usman Musa, allegedly sold the property of his employer valued at N48,000 ($292).
Musa was put on trial on charges of conspiracy and two counts of theft. The prosecutor told a court that Musa sold the freezer at the Ajah Market.
Musa, who has since been fired by his boss Amenawon Ikechuame, told investigators that he removed and sold the freezer because his employer did not pay his wages on time. After Ikechuame was admitted to a hospital, Musa conspired with his brother to steal the property.
Musa was booked into jail and released after posting N50,000 ($305) bail.
