(Scroll down for video) A woman is behind bars after being convicted of starving her pet dog to death, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.
The lawyer in training has been sentenced to 4 months in jail after she left her dog to starve to death in a home in Bristol.
Katy Gammon, 27, of Lawrence Weston, locked her boxer dog Roxy, in the kitchen of her house without food or water. It was also tied with string. The woman was also banned from keeping animals for life.
Roxy, which was found when neighbors called police about a bad smell and flies, suffered a long and painful death, prosecutors told the court. “This is the most serious incident of animal cruelty we have seen in these courts,” the judge said.
Gammon admitted to a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a dog. According to the police investigation, Gammon locked Roxy in the kitchen because it urinated and defecated inside the home.
