(Scroll down for video) Police are looking to arrest and charge a man with theft after allegedly stealing his girlfriend’s television and dog while enjoying their first date, police in New Jersey said.

Dover Police said that the man stole a Yorkshire Terrier and a Samsung flat screen television.

However, the woman reported that late at night, the dog and television were returned to her. On Thursday night, the man stole the items during their first date.

The woman called the Dover Police Department to say that she found the stolen dog tied by a leash to the TV in the front yard of her home on Ann Street.

The woman met the man, known to her only as Joel, through a dating website. The woman told police that the man was in her house and she became busy in another room, leaving him alone for a period of time.

When she came back into the room the man was gone along with her dog, which is worth $4,000 – and her television, valued at $3,000. The alleged thief also used the woman’s cellphone and police are trying to get fingerprints off the phone.

The man was described as Hispanic, about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He wore a black hooded jacket, jeans and black boots at the time, and driving a gold-colored Mercedes.
