(Scroll down for video) An adult onesie that doubles up as a WiFi hotspot is now for sale.
The onesie has been developed by a Dutch fashion designer.
Borre Akkersdijk began experimenting with the idea as early as in 2009, to weave two layers of fine cotton along with a synthetic fiber.
Now, he has been able to run copper wire through the material during the manufacturing process. The wires can be connected to chips and connectivity devices, and he has created two prototype suits called BB.Suits, outfitted with WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS capabilities.
“The copper goes in during the manufacturing process, and large spots are left open in the design so we can put the chips and stuff inside. The technology is in the initial stage, and so far, there are no chips that can be washed,” Akkersdijk said.
The onesie is bulky because the batteries and processor boards are hidden inside.
