(Scroll down for video) A young Flatbush boy was rushed to a hospital after being shot twice in the head, police in New York said.
Brooklyn police said that after a week in the hospital, the 13–year-old boy, who was shot twice in the head during his spring break vacation, woke up in his own bed.
Gama Droiville, his aunt and his cousin were waiting at a bus stop near Flatbush Avenue and Beverly Road, when shots rang out shortly before 12:00 p.m.
As chaos erupted, with people running and falling to the ground, bullets pierced the boy’s right eye. He saw the blood coming out of his head.
Just days after the shooting, tips from the public led police to a basement apartment in Jamaica, Queens, where they arrested 21-year-old Kareem Potomont in connection with the shooting. A 24-year-old man, the intended target of the suspect, was shot in the leg.
After leaving the hospital on Tuesday, Droiville said that he plans to speak out against gun violence, and one day hopes to see out of his right eye again.
