Mickey, the dog that mauled the 4-year-old Phoenix boy, was sentenced to life behind bars in the no kill animal shelter of Joe Arpaio on Tuesday.
Judge Deborah Griffith heard how Mickey mauled Kevin Vincente for taking away its doggy treat. Arpaio agreed to keep the dog for the rest of its life and to appear in an annual conference on the status of Mickey.
Mickey will remain behind bars and isolated from the public and other animals at the shelter. He also agreed that no taxpayer money will be used on the dog.
Mickey mutilated Kevin while in the home of his babysitter. Kevin has undergone extensive surgery, had a broken jaw and lost an eye.
