(Scroll down for video) A family is devastated over the loss of an 11-year-old girl who was killed by her baby brother.

The 2-year-old boy, who is the youngest of 4 children, shot and killed his sister Jamara Stevens, while playing with a gun he found inside their home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, police said.

Stevens was fatally shot on Saturday morning, with a loaded gun that police believe was brought into the home by the mother’s boyfriend a few hours before the tragic incident.

The mother’s boyfriend allegedly brought the gun into the home and placed it on top of the refrigerator. Her 14-year-old son placed it in the master bedroom.

About 10:00 a.m., when they were all in the master bedroom, the mother left the room to use the bathroom. That is when the 2-year-old took the loaded pistol, and pointed it in the direction of his sister and shot her.

The fatal bullet hit the girl’s shoulder, traveled to her chest and pierced her heart. The victim was rushed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, but died about half an hour later, police said.

Homicide detectives are investigating, but so far, no charges have been filed.
