What ever happened to parents being allowed to discipline their children?
A man of the United Kingdom, was horrified when police showed up at his house after arguing with his son over homework.
The 50-year-old man who “hit” his 8-year-old son on the head with a textbook when he refused to do his homework, has been convicted of assault.
The father’s attorney, Joe Wright, said that the man came home after a day of work, and he was very tired and stressed when his son told him that his teacher had ordered him to read more at home. However, the boy refused to read.
The Somerset man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, hit the child over the head with the book while trying to get him to read. His teenage daughter who witnessed the incident, told her mother about what happened. The father then had an argument with his teenage daughter and hit her in the face, leaving her with a bloody lip.
The father was arrested after a family friend reported him to the police. He was taken to South Somerset Magistrate’s Court in Yeovil, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of assault.
The judge imposed a 12 month conditional discharge.
