(Scroll down for video) A family was left shaken after their car caught on fire while they drove through the lions’ enclosure at a safari.

The woman and her two children were enjoying their trip at the Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire, United Kingdom, when their car suddenly caught on fire.

To their bad luck, the car fire began while driving inside the lions’ enclosure. Helen Clements, 43, whose car burst into flames, spoke of her terrifying ordeal.

She, her son George, 9, and daughter Charlie, 12, were about 100 yards from the lions when their car started smoking.

At first, the mother thought her car was overheated, but then she realized that it was on fire.

George opened the car door in order to escape as park rangers started running towards them. “They shouted at us to get back into the car,” Clements said.

The family was uncomfortable going back into the burning car. However, they were in the lions’ den with lions watching the burning car.

The lions kept their distance, but did not take their eyes off the fire and smoke.

A park ranger finally got them all into his vehicle and drove them to safety.
