Deputy Greg Morrison of Georgia, is recovering after being attacked by the drug sniffing dog.
The Murray County officer along with a K-9 drug unit, were out serving warrants to people. When they were done, the deputy tried taking a selfie with the K-9 unit.
When the deputy knelt beside the dog and put his arm around the dog for the photo, the dog turned and attacked the deputy.
The dog bit the officers face, ripping open his chin and lip.
Authorities said that the dog was probably felt threatened and was protecting itself. The deputy was taken to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
