(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly running over an elderly Flatbush man, police in New York said.
Brooklyn Police said that the victim is fighting for his life after being hit by the vehicle on Ocean Parkway and Avenue O.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., when the vehicle hit the man, who was crossing the street at the intersection.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene, found the 68-year-old man in traumatic arrest, and he was transported to Lutheran Hospital, where he remains in critical.
The vehicle fled from the scene without even slowing down, and began traveling at a high rate of speed south on Ocean Parkway.
Three good Samaritans, who were in the area and witnessed the vehicle with a broken windshield, began following the car.
The vehicle entered the Belt Parkway, and headed toward eastern Queens. Michael Spalla, 48, was later arrested by police in Queens.
