A man was jailed after handing an officer beer instead of his driver’s license.
Damon Tobias Exum, 37, of Georgia, was drunk, and he did not even realize that he hit a patrol car.
Exum was driving in a suburb of Atlanta, when he hit the police cruiser, but instead of stopping he continued driving.
He was apparently unaware of the accident he caused and continued along the highway, but the officer gave chase until Exum finally pulled over.
Officer Alvin Rodriguez was not hurt in the crash and his car was in good enough shape to pursue Exum until he was taken off the road.
Officer Rodriguez then asked for his driver’s license. However, the heavily intoxicated driver handed him a bottle of beer instead.
Exum was arrested on eight misdemeanor charges, including driving under the influence and reckless driving. He is being held in the DeKalb County Jail in lieu of $3,270 bail. Police said this was his third DUI arrest.
