A woman was jailed after she decided to bite off a man’s finger because he sold her a fake BlackBerry phone, police in Nigeria said.

Lagos State Police said that the man identified as Ifeanyi, sold the fake phone to the woman identified as Nkechi, for N15,000 ($93) on Monday.

Ifeanyi claimed that Nkechi tested the phone in his presence and it worked great. He also said that the woman was told to charge the battery for at least four hours before using the phone.

Nkechi admitted to testing the phone, but she claimed that while she was paying for it a store employee swapped it for the fake. When she got home, she took the phone out of the box and tried to charge it. However, nothing happened. She opened up the phone and saw that it was filled with stones.

She quickly returned to the store and grabbed the man’s shirt. A witness said that he saw Nkechi bite the store owner’s finger when he tried to grab his shirt out of the woman’s hand.

Ifeanyi was transferred to a nearby hospital, while the woman was arrested.
