Jews were shocked to learn that vandals spray painted a swastika on the grave site of a Talmudic sage.

Israel Police said that the tomb of the second century rabbi, Abba Halafta, which is located in the northern part of the country, was vandalized with swastikas on Tuesday.

Police believe that the incident was in retaliation for the recent hate crimes against Muslim places of worship. The words “Price Tag for the Price Tag,” were also found at the site.

In response to the recent wave of hate attacks, Israel Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said that Israel must fight hate crimes against Muslims with an iron fist.

“There is much work ahead of us. We must strive to be a state that fights racism, violence and xenophobia,” Yaalon said. “Price Tag is an ugly phenomenon that has no connection to Jewish values and morals, and whose objective is harming Muslims just because they are Muslims,” Yaalon added.

Also in response to the recent wave of attacks, a group of young Muslims partnered with their Jewish colleagues to rebuild an ancient synagogue in a city of the Galilee.
