The suspect was arrested at JFK Airport after organizing a meeting in the Dominican Republic to participate in sexual activities with minors.
Vernon Lythcott was charged on Friday afternoon in federal court. A judge set his bail at $250,000. He is being accused of sexual conduct with a minor in a foreign country, and faces up to 30 years in prison.
Lythcott engaged in sexual acts with two 15-year-old girls in the Dominican Republic. Lythcott used the help of a Dominican man to attract teenagers to a beach in a van, promising them money and gifts.
The victims said that Lythcott paid them $80. Investigators also found pictures of the victims on his cellphone.
He admitted to investigators that he had sex with girls, but claims he thought they were older. He also admitted to traveling to the Dominican Republic 45 times with the help of the local to find girls for sex.
