A man was arrested after his wife banned their neighbor’s young daughter from coming over to their home.
According to police, the alleged victim often spent the night at the home of her neighbors, Cleo Morgan, 67, and his wife, Donna Harper, of Missouri.
The girl usually slept on the couch, but was often invited by Morgan into his bedroom, where the two were intimate.
According to the victim, on one occasion, the wife knocked on the bedroom door and entered the room while Morgan and the child were in bed together. The girl hid under the covers, hoping that Harper would not see her.
The girl told police that she lied to Harper about having sex with her husband because she liked him and did not want him to get in trouble.
Recently, Harper banned the child from her home. When the child’s grandmother asked why she reportedly claimed that the child was “ruining her marriage” by sitting on her husband’s lap.”
The grandmother began investigating and found text messages between her 11-year-old granddaughter and the 67-year-old neighbor.
Morgan initially denied the allegations, but soon confessed. He admitted abusing the girl several times over the past few months.
However, Morgan placed the fault on the girl saying that she seduced him.
Morgan was charged with statutory rape, statutory sodomy and child abuse. He is being held in the Greene County Jail on $75,000 bond.
