(Scroll down for video) A sweet old grandma is accused of using her innocent looks to steal thousands of dollars in Jewelry.
When 83-year-old Doris Payne entered the El Paseo Jewelry store in Palm Desert, California, the staff served her with love and respect.
The White haired woman, who is not in the best of health, told staff members that she had just received a $25,000 insurance payout and that she wanted to spend the money on a gift for herself.
Salespeople fussed around her while helping her choose between necklaces and rings with embedded gems.
The woman finally decided on a diamond and white gold pinkie ring, and she left the store.
However, staff did not realize that another $22,500 ring was still on her finger.
Within minutes, the old woman had sold the expensive ring for a mere $800 to a nearby pawn shop.
Unfortunately for Payne, authorities are now so familiar with her history of swapping jewelry from unsuspecting stores that they were quick to catch it.
The 83-year-old woman is accused of being a six-decade career criminal during which she has traveled the world to swipe millions of dollars in jewelry by “forgetting” that she was wearing them.
Over time, Payne has been linked to 20 aliases, nine dates of birth and five Social Security numbers. Now, she is once again back in jail for her crime spree.
