A woman was jailed after she set her daughter’s rapist on fire.

Human rights and other organizations asked a judge to pardon the woman and free her despite killing the man.

They believed that the woman of Spain, killed the rapist after he incited her. However, the woman was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to jail.

The incident began when Antonio Soriano, raped a 13-year-old girl in 1998. He was sentenced to prison.

When he was finally released on parole in 2005, he visited the town of Benejuzar. There he met his victim’s mother, Maria del Carmen Garcia, and asked “how is your daughter.”

The furious mother ran to a local gas station, bought some petrol, sprayed it on the convicted rapist and set him on fire. He was rushed to a hospital, but he died a week later as a result of his burn wounds.

Garcia was charged with the murder, but defended her actions by saying that she was suffering serious mental illness since her daughter was raped.

An appeals court judge upheld the lower court ruling and the woman will spend the next five and a half years in prison.
